You cannot fix a risk you have not named.

Everything in this course so far has been general: four risks, illustrative figures, patterns we see across hundreds of organizations. The Ascent Assessment is where this stops being general and starts being about your company specifically.

It is a structured diagnostic, not a survey. Where a typical engagement survey asks how people feel, the Ascent Assessment asks where decisions actually break down, where capacity is already maxed, and which of the four risks is closest to becoming a financial event.

You’ll see exactly how this works in Chapter 12. For now, the important thing to know is this: the assessment exists, it takes about twenty minutes, and it produces a number you can put in front of your board.
